For example, a reliable rule of thumb is that small households (2–3 people) often manage well with about 400–800 gallons in daily use cases. What base is required for my tank?
  • A firm, level base that is continuous under the entire tank is required.
  • Base can be sand, fine gravel, clean dirt, cement or properly supported and closely placed planks.
  • Pebbles larger that half inch should be removed.
Can my tank be mounted on a platform?

Yes, however the tank bottom must be continuously supported, eg. atop an even concrete structure, or with two layers of 3/4 inch plywood nailed suitably to a support structure. In the interest of safety, an engineer should be consulted.

Does sunlight affect the tanks?

Over time, exposure to sunlight causes the plastic to harden which makes it more prone to cracking if the tank receives a heavy blow. All Multi-Plastics Tanks-A-Lot tanks are made with an ultraviolet inhibitor that slows this hardening effect.
